What do I have to say? Well, I thank Scott for respecting my concerns enough to name me specifically in his post.

Svelte doesn't necessarily mean smaller though, it means slimmer. AFAIK, it will be longer than the concept - but slimmer.

At the unveiling, I was in the front row, directly in front of the backstage doors, where the concept appeared from. As the door opened, the front view of the concept was dead center in front of me. I remember thinking that this has got to be the w--i--d--e--s--t car I've ever seen, sure hope they measured that back stage door.

I'm thinking that reducing that width is what Scott is referring to when he said svelter. I could be wrong though....

Oh, and Scott, I want you to know that it was I who coined the term "Black Suburban" right here on CZ28. Just an FYI. Yup, yup, all me....

Now we're trying to figure out the meaning behind the word "svelte".

Really, when I hear "svelte", I think slim and athletic. Svelte could also be a weight reference. I really don't intent to get into a serious breakdown of one word Scott chose to use.

Again as I said this pic was not leaked as I seriously doubt that's how GM works and if they did it would certainly have been a better picture. Camo and white prototype's just don't do the car justice and GM can't have narrow minded people making assumptions on these pics before the car is actually released.

As for camara phones, that it's very difficult to stop other than placing surveillance devices near the car and monitoring anyone whom gets close and try to figure out who it is and go after them. Now if this was a GM employee or a contractor there are ways to track that down. Many people, if they know something, have serious trouble keeping secrets.

I think it looks great!

The only things that I think I like better on the concept are the door handles, mirrors, and the slightly deeper side crease. All three things pretty much had to be toned down a bit for production so I was expecting it, but still. Looks great.

Bring on a widebody version with extra-flared fenders with an exposed-bolt pattern and small ground-effects kit to further lower the visual stance of the car and put it on the autoshow circuit! You've got a winner GM.

I know the lighting and angle are not flattering, but I have to say, I keep comparing the door and rear wheel well, and I'm frankly disapointed. They smoothed out my favorite parts of the concept. I'll STILL buy one, but I'll always wish it had been left alone. I'm sure there are financial reasons for toning down the body lines and the depth of curves and such. Can't wait to see a REAL production model to see if what I THINK I'm seeing and not liking is for real.

I think it looks GREAT!

I literally cried watching the CZ28 "first drive" of the Camaro concept back in the spring of 2006. The car looked so beautiful on camera and I was so excited that GM was making an effort at bringing our favorite car back that it brought me to tears.

The car pictured in the photo is stylistically awesome--long, pointed hood, rectangular windshield, and an overall aggressive, athletic stance.

GO GM!!!!

Guys and gals -- the production car is stunning......to the point where there is lots of emotion when you see it for the first time. (heck -- Mr. Wellburn HUGGED it!!!)

I can't wait till its my turn! Count me as a sale! Scott, IMO, no need to worry. Bad picture or not, the car looks flippin awesome. I have to admit, when I went to Detroit to see it in 2005, I was also a little emotional.

...But a better picture sure would be sweet! Something about December and and leaked photos for the Camaro I guess...

Someone will be looking for a new place of employment after this.
I like it what I see for the most part but I'm not going to crazy because the car is white and shot with a camera phone. As someone made the great point earlier about the differences between this and the concept is that the concept photos were shot by professionals. I think if GM intentionally leaked this, they would have done a better job.
I'm still trying to figure out where this photo was taken. I know I'm not right but with the cement floor blue curtain it looks very expo hall-esqe.

I'm liking the mirrors, wheels, door handle, and the fact that they kept the body lines. I would have loved functional shark gills but at least they are still there.

As for the pic...

Meh, its a white car in bad lighting. I still have the "leaked" pics of the white C6 body in a factory type setting. The Vette was in better lighting but still the production car looks much better.

White seems to be the colour of choice for GM's prototypes.

The Camaro looks unfinished in the pic but is going to look awesome in final production form.

I would keep the wheels and probably just lower it an inch. Thats about it.

I worked for a vehicle testing facility in SoCal about 2 years ago. It was a standard office/warehouse type building with bay doors, cement floors, and curtains surrounding each vehicle. Doors were never allowed to be propped open, no cell phones in the shop or in the vehicles, and the shop exits and entrances were walled off with curtains so outsiders couldn't look in. There were security cameras everywhere. That pic looks pretty realistic--maybe taken in a testing facility, or in a vendor's garage while they were testing a component maybe?

1. If GM provides you folks with company cell phones, why on earth would they provide people in product development phones with cameras on them?

2. I know people would still have their own phones with cameras that weren't provided by GM, so for those who work in sensitive areas of the company, wouldn't you think they'd have thought to ask to see everyone's cell phone when camera phones came out and log who has camera phones?

3. For the people who do work on and around sensitive future product that tends to be in plain sight, wouldn't GM have a security checkpoint at the door to that room where you need to check your cell phone if it has a camera?

I would have thought GM would think of these things when you are banking millions in future product development and the competition is fierce. Didn't something similar happen before the Z06 Corvette was officialy released?

Of course, having said all of that, I am VERY happy to see the pictures
from when i worked at ford, this is what i learned there(and I had access to pre release Mustangs, Fusions, Edges, MKX etc.)

no, the company phone usually do not have cameras

no looking for cameras/camera phones, but possessing them on premises is grounds for dismissal

all access security is electronic(card scanners at the doors)
