I must be alone on a desert island, I am not impressed with the 5th Gen. Sure, it's got 1st Gen cuteness, but it also has a brick of a front nose that's gonna have a hard time fighting head winds and a rear-end that's an invitation to aerodynamic drag. The 4th gen was at least designed with aerodynamics in mind. If you put 700 HP in both cars, I'd much prefer to be in a 4th gen doing 200 MPH, than the 5th gen.

The black Z28 with the SS hood looks terrific. The red one is ...kinda weird looking.

But that's just my opinion, not based on fact or evidence.

I prefer the 4th gen as well, but the 5th gen is nice in its own right. There aren't any currently produced cars I could afford that look quite as nice.

Putting the two together shows how far off the 4th was from the formula.
Lets hope that its exterior dimentions do not exceed GTO size, and no where near 4th gen size.
IMO, 5th gen is the hottest looking Camaro since 1992.

Man, I don't I think I would have trusted myself to back my car up next to the concept. How'd you like to be the guy at the show that sent to the 5th gen to the shop?

Here in SoCal this summer we had Bumblebee and Scott Settlemier show up on our Rim of the World cruise.

Well Ultra Dog... you're not alone. I saw at auto shows both the Camaro and the new Challenger, and to tell you the truth, the Challenger looks nicer and more desirable to me. The Camaro is nice but the front end does not impress me that much or look as nice as the original '69, looks like a bloated face after the fine aero profile of the 4th. gen. Mine still looks nice and aggressive in parking lots full of BMW's, Maximas and Mustangs.

Someone said "how the 4th. gen has strayed from the formula"? well, that is called EVOLUTION, you can' keep building the same looking and same performing car for decades. If not.. what will the 6th. gen look like? like a modernized 70 1/2?

Guess I'll have to start buying all the 4th. gens that will be traded in for 5th gens. lol

That's interesting. I had the exact opposite reaction. To me, there isn't one view of the Challenger I have seen where I don't get an overwhelming feeling of it being bloated and huge. Yet, the Camaro look a lot more chiseled and "leaner".

As far as the front end aerodynamics, modern cars are starting to have pedestrian safety standards to think about. But beyond that, it is almost a necessity to keep the front overhang to a minimum. And I much prefer the "at the corners" look myself.

I agree,

The 4th gen was misleading in size, I didnt notice how long I'd say it was untill I parked it in the garage where the Passat was and realized it's longer.

I Love the size comparison! Especially the windshield height, hood height, wheel to body height, exc... I was sold on how low and swooping the 4th gen was and I'm happy the new one is similar if not smaller. Similar to size of a C5->C6.

Brings it back to the origional Muscle cars, being a smaller/ midsize car.

BTW, what does that long/ Rectangle badge behind the front wheel say?

This is how I felt, seeing the Challenger up on a platform at NAIAS made me feel like I was at a boat show. The long flat sides with no creases or lines makes it look even bigger than it is.

"GM Performance Division" IIRC.
