Battery Hold down

Battery Hold down
The original battery hold down bolt froze. Ended up snapping it off. I used a torch and some vise grips to get the rest of the bolt out. So when I heated the bolt the backing plate that holds the bolt in place came out with it. From the way it looks there is no access underneath the battery tray to secure the plate back. So my question is, are there other ways to secure the battery down that don't require bungie cords or duct tape. I know some of you guys have custom plates holding your stuff down. Any links, sites or advice? Thanks

Re: Battery Hold down
There's access from under the tray. I pushed a bolt up through the hole for the stock bolt, fastened it to the tray with a washer and nut, and then used a second washer and nut to hold down an aftermarket clamp, rather than the stock plastic clamp.
It was a long time ago, but as I recall, you reach up behind the coolant reservoir, which is directly under (and part of) the battery tray.

Re: Battery Hold down
That sounds like a plan with the new bolt, nuts and washers. This aftermarket clamp you mentioned, what's it look like? Where can I get one? I no longer have the original factory hold down clamp.

Re: Battery Hold down
The clamp I got was just a piece of plastic coated steel, with a little bit of a bend in it. I don't even have it any more. I switched to a Braille battery, and made an aluminum strap to retain the battery. The bottom of the strap still bolts to the bolt stuck up through the bottom of the tray, though.
