BadAss t56 setup for lsx crate motor

Hey guys,

I am thinking of purchasing this motor for my 95 bird:

440 LSX Chevrolet Crate Engine
with the 725hp upgrade and then adding a 150 plate to it.

Currently I am running a 355 lt1/nitrous with McLeod street twin and stock T56/bellhousing. Ford 9" and ordering a dennys nitrous driveshaft.

Anyway from what I understand I will need a whole new bellhousing/flywheel/clutch/trans to put behind this crate motor.

Does anyone make a strong t56 and possibly a kit that comes with the bell/fly/clutch.

I have done some searching and it seems that Tranzilla is popular from Rockland Standard Gear.

I would like to buy a quality setup, money is an object, but ultimately I want it to work well and shift nice. I like to power shift and drive it hard so this is where quality must be lol.

Any sense in picking any of the other gear ratios other then stock? I can see the need for maybe a little shorter 6th gear.

Right now I have 4.10s and with a bigger camshaft I am hard pressed to use 6th anywhere. Too tall. I am looking to change up to 4.30 gears tho but also step up to a 28" tall tire (27" now), so can't see much change there.

Let me know your thoughts on part selection.

From what I understand I will need an LS1 K member (currently have UMI setup for lt1, so will need a new center for lsx mounts), LS1 bell housing, clutch/fly and trans. I should be able to re-run my driveshaft and torque arm, correct? Basically what I am asking is does the lsx driveline sit further forward or back?

Thanks guys

Re: BadAss t56 setup for lsx crate motor

I'm not all that familiar with the gear ratios, But I have priced the tranzilla in the past for my blown BBC impala. Dont quote me on the numbers but these are close. They have two options, neither of which is cheap. One will support around 450 pounds of torque and the other 750 to the tune of $3500 and $7000 and that's just the trans. No bell and no clutch. When I priced them it was 6 years ago. I'm sure prices have gone up since.
It all depends on how fast you can afford to go.

700 lb-ft for $2,895:

Welcome to D&D Performance - T-56 Magnum 6 Speed Transmission

Tranzilla is rated 1,200HP, 1,000 lb-ft, son of Tranzilla at 800 lb-ft.

A stock T56 is rated at 450 lb-ft.

That's not too bad for the trans you get.

Thanks!
