Simpler Cam Design...

I was "surfing" early in this morning looking at the engineering aspects of cam design and came across several good sites. This site (http://www.ul.ie/~nolk/cams.htm#drawing%20a%20cylindrical) seemed to explain the cam design simply with graphic-friendly representations. A bud and myself changed some valve stem seals on a '94 Toyota Tercel, and the fulcrum eccentric design was both simple and effective. I was wondering if the "modern" cam design on LT1 and LS1 engines can be improved on. The Toyota design really impressed me a lot. Very simple...very effective with few moving parts...
