defensive driving question...

i got a ticket back in 12/17/03 and i took defensive driving 3/14/04 for it, now i just got a ticket on 3/11/05 and i havent taken DD yet for it, but it should be ok since it will be a yr later then i took DD before? or do they go by the ticket date? anyone know? i already paid the court to take DD and i got my driving record just havent taken the course yet... any help is appreciated..

I was in your exact same shoes. I actually took DD and when I went in to turn in my Certificate and driving record, they said that they go by the day that you took DD, not the ticket date for the previous year. That means that even though your first ticket was more than a year ago, you took DD on 3/14/04 and got your new ticket on 3/11/05, within a 1 year period and not allowable. They let me sign up for deferred adjudication. The court costs were a bit higher but you basically promise not to get another ticket for a year. If you do, then both tickets would go on your record. I was only about 2 weeks short of a year and it really pissed me off. Good luck and maybe they won't catch it.

Same thing just happened to me last night. I took defensive driving on 3/17/04 and got a ticket on 3/31/05...I guess I'll be ok then, but WTF???? :confused:
