MAF Translator question

I bought a used MAF Translator from a club member. He bought it, but never used it, so he sold it to me. However, as soon as I put it on the car, even with the pots set to zero (and all dips off), the car misses at WOT over 4K. It also sets a DTC.

Any adjustment of the pots only makes the miss worse.

The version is listed as 6.1 (written in a white square on the front)

Did I just throw $75 down the drain?

Those can be fairly finicky. I don't think the wires are very well shielded so twist them around each other on the way to the coil connections. Also, placement of the box might matter. I don't know why they did not uses shielded wires and a metal box. Other than that contact the manufactor of it and ask for a replacement.

Update ...

The code being thrown is P0102 - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Circuit Low Frequency

I put the MAFT on a friend's 2001 T/A and took it for a spin. His car had no problems. So, we put his MAF and the MAFT on my car and went out. We got the same 4K stumble at WOT.

Any ideas?

Further update:

Replaced hump hose with stock bellows between MAF and TB. No change.

Removed Hypertech programming (which was only fans and speedo calibration). No change.

That's it ... I'm stumped.

Sell it to someone with a LS1.

Are you sure you have the switches set right for the MAF sensor you're running? I used to run a Translator on my Buick GN with the LT1 MAF sensor and I had to set it to recognize that MAF sensor or it didn't operate properly...

All dip switches are off, both pots set to zero. Works fine on friend's car, stumbles at 4K WOT on mine.

Fixed.

The MAFT was a bum unit. I made a quick repair to the PCB and everything is fine now.
