2010 Fuel Octane use?
What is everybody using in the form of octane rating for their Camaros? I sold my 2006 BMW 330i which had an octane rating of use at 92. Although the fuel was expensive and even worse a couple years ago when the fuel went sky high, I switched to 87 octane and the beamer road just fine, in fact I got better gas mileage using 87 vs 92. What has been the difference and experience with the 2010 camaro with 87 vs 92 octane?

92+ was also recommened for my 2006 330i BMW, but it ran just fine with 87 octane. Why, simple, it's the cost factor since my 2011 Camaro 2SS will be my everyday drive around car Monday-Friday (weekends I'll put the miles on the wife's).

I will never understand the logic of buying and insuring a high performance vehicle, and then wanting to cheap out on gas. If you drive 200 miles per week and get 17 mpg average your fuel cost differential is not that great.
200/17 = 11.76 gallons per weak @ $2.50 per gallon = $29.41 per week. ($1529.41 per year)
200/17 = 11.76 gallons per weak @ $2.75 per gallon = $32.35 per week. ($1682.35 per year)
You cost differential is 1682.35 - 1529.41 = $152.94 per year ($2.94 per week)
Effectively immaterial. Your 2010 2SS will perform better with 91 octane or better. It will pull timing and produce less power below that grade.

Good choice. The ultimate price is immaterial the defferential drives the economic impact. When it is said and done the spread is relatively small compared to the overall price of the fuel. Enjoy your car.

I have owned my 2010 camaro since the first week of June 2009. I have had many issues with gas/octane. I have tried both ratings and found that the 91 and up is far better when it comes to mpg and performance. But I have also had more issues with the brand of gas then I have with the different octane ratings. I have talked with other corVette and camaro owners about this to see if they have notice the same, they have. So far I have spent 12 months resurching this issue and I have found that Texaco gas is far far more consistant with reguards to mpg at the 91 percent. I have tried 94 at off the wall brands gas stations and they all failed terribly. My mpg fell down to 14 city and 17 hw. I was pissed, mainly because I filled the tank with this cheep gas, and it was all 91 and up. I have found the Chevron and sometime Shell are not bad but I will get one bad tank out of 3. So far with Texaco I have not got one bad tank for six month now. I have covered Texas, New Mexico and Ariz with Texaco gas, its all good. At first I went back to the dealership and complained about the mpg, I had them do a complete Diagnostic and found nothing wrong. that was when the shop supervisor mention the issue that other corvette owners have had the same issues for years. I beleive that some of this stations are putting the 87 in the 91 tanks, also there is just to much water and junk in the off brand gas even at the 94.
I am a happy camper now, no matter where I go I alway fill up with Texaco gas. I am getting 27 to 29 highway most of the time on flat terrain and no less then 25. In the city I get no less then 19mpg, thats with some hotdogging too. half the time I will get 21 in the city.

Re: 2010 Fuel Octane use?
What engine in your 2010?
I notice your IP address is from Mexico. What is the octane rating of "cheap gas" where you live? What method do they use to rate octane - RON, MON, or (RON + MON)/2? That info should be posted on the pump.
What is the elevation where you live, referenced to sea level? The higher the elevation, the lower the octane requirement for the engine.
[EDIT] Couldn't have been too important. Signed off immediately after posting, and never came back to the site.
