wrong wheels off ebay!!

well, this may start out sounding like a horror story, but this is what happened today, which is almost the greatest day ever now.

I was shopping for some new wheels for the car, and wanted some of the c5 z06 wheels, but never found any at a good price so i went with new ones... I saw some nice ones on ebay for the new c6 corvettes, they were labeled 'Z06' but they were the skinny 5-spoke ones, so I figured they just through z06 in as a keyword to get more hits. i ordered black chrome ones... they looked good in the picture, but were labeled as 17X8.5", which I was hoping for soemthing wider, but oh well, you get what you can right?

My mom called me this week to let me know that they had arrived so i drove back from school to take a look at them..

opened them up and uhhh these arent the wheels I ordered????

They sent me 18X10.5" C5 Z06 black chrome wheels!!!

Basically the sexiest things I've ever seen...and plenty plenty wide now...just wanted to let everyone know

Does anyone else run these on their car?? If you do let me see some pics if you have them!! I wont be able to put them on the car for a while since now i have to save up some money for some bigger tires!

What is the offset on the 18x10.5" wheels? The stockers are 58mm, and that puts the inside edge of the wheel over the jounce bumper bracket, and the inside edge of the tire may rub on the inner fender liner, requiring a bit of mild hammering.

Check the front as well, if they are 58mm.... I don't know if you can even use an 8.00" backspace on the front.

scratch that...they are 9.5" wide...i was measuring the entire width of the wheel from the outside outer lip to the outside inner lip... you only measure the inside part of the lips for the width of a wheel right, judging by one of those diagrams in a sticky..

That would be correct. Bead to bead on the tire.

I guess, since he wanted the C5's in the first place.

Me, I'd be ape**** if I ordered C6's and got C5's, which are probably my least favorite wheel for these cars.

Wait, what wheels did you get? Black with chrome lip, or black chrome?

I was thinking black with chrome lip, but black chrome is just sexy, it almost doesn't even matter what wheel it is.

I doubt it would be worth their trouble to absorb the shipping for you to send them back so they could send you the correct ones.

hope someone reads down to this post...figured it wouldnt be necessary to start a new thread, but will a 255 wide tire fit a 9.5" rim? That wasn't covered in the sticky for 17" wheels; but for 18" wheels it said the 255's were fine from 8 or 8.5-10" wide wheels...so I'm guessing its perfectly fine to put a 255-40-17 tire on a 9.5" wide 17" wheel correct? Thanks for the input

They will fit, but they may not look quite right. The tire is only 1 cm wider than stock (assuming a 245 wheel before), and you are putting them on wheels that are almost 4 cm wider than stock. 255 mm is 10", 1mm, so it is the same width as the wheel. Pretty much, your wheel will be what protects the tire from hitting the curb.

The reason the 255/40-17 isn't listed in the FAQ is because its too small in diameter (25.0") for a 4th Gen F-Body. You want a 25.65" minimum tire diameter. But if the 255/40-17 is what you want for some reason, it will fit on a wheel 8.5" - 10.0" wide.

A 255/45-17 would be a better match on diameter (26.1") and will also fit on a 9.5" wide wheel.
