Will These Fit?
Will These Fit?
I plan on purchasing OEM Camaro SS 17x9 10 spoke rims for my 1994 Z28. Will I have any trouble fitting these on. I guess what I am trying to say is as soon as I take those salad shooters off, will the new 10 spokes just slide right on without ANY modifications?
The "should fit fine"...... but they won't.
On the early 4th Gens - up to maybe early 97 - the rear axle hub is larger in diameter than the front hub. They corrected it in 97. If you try and put "late" 4th Gen wheels - example, the 10-spokes - you will find that the center hole on the wheels is too small to fit correctly over the hub on your 1994. You will need to lightly sand/grind the inner diameter of the wheel hole so it is larger than the ridge on the axle hub. You might want to grind all 4 wheels, so you won't run into a problem in the future when you want to rotate the wheels front-to-back.
The difference is only about 0.03", and removing this material from the inside of the wheel center hole will not hurt anything.
