Will it fit?
Will it fit?
I need a new set of tires for my Camaro. I still have the stock rims on it which I'd rather not replace. What I'm looking at are some GoodYear Eagle GT II's, with a wider tire in the rear than the front (I'm sticking with the 245's in the front). My question(s) to you guys is are these any good and will the tire I have posted below fit the stock rim and wheel well? Thanks

Re: Will it fit?
That 285/60-16 tire is 29.4" diameter - almost 4" larger in diameter than your stock tire - and will not fit in the wheel opening without a cutting torch or a can opener. The diameter shown on the Summit website (26.4") is incorrect. Go to Tire Rack, and look up the same tire.
If you managed to fit it in the rear, its going to be so large that it will make your car feel like you swapped the 2.73's out for a 2.38 gearset - think about it.
In addition, the Eagle GT2 is an "all season" tire - i.e. mud and snow rated. That is not going to be up to the level of tire that your car needs for aggressive driving.
That's the problem with 16" wheels..... the widest true "high performance" tire you will find will be a 255/50-16. If you really want a mid-grade all-season tire, look at the BFG Radial T/A. I think they might make a 275/50 or 285/50-16, that will only be a little bit too large for your car.

Re: Will it fit?
Yes, unfortunately, a decade (or more) ago there was a lot better variety of wide tires for 16". Now 17" has become the "standard", with huge widths available.
As Injuneer wrote, 255/50-16 is as good as it gets for high performance 16" tires.
