White painted wheels

How hard are they to clean up? Obviously they'll show brake dust and dirt quicker than other wheels, but are they more difficult to clean up?

Also, if you buy silver painted wheels, you can get them painted white, right? Or am I remembering this wrong...

If you can paint them, what does the process entail?

Re: White painted wheels

if it has a clear coat like stock silver painted rims it will clean up just as easily as they do, at least till the surface of the clear coat gets pitted then your going to have black brake dust specks on youre wheels. you would need a bead/sand blaster or large can of aircraft remover to get he paint off a silver wheel to repaint it. then it would be just like painting anything else, surface prep, primer and a few coats of color a a couple of clear.

Thanks for the answer, I appreciate it.

So, is it common to have a shop in your area that will do the whole thing for you? (Assuming I can't just get someone to sand blast it for me so I can paint it myself)

Re: White painted wheels

We did alot of the wheels over on our rice rockets a few years ago. I painted the wheels white on my 89 GSXR 1100 white and found the paint didnt hold up very well. I would recommend powder coating as well. It is more durable and cleans easier. Just my .02

Re: White painted wheels

Ford got just the centers of his wheels powdercoated black for like $25 per wheel and clearcoated for a little bit more. Turned out perfect.

So they cleared over the top of the powdercoat? Hmm... Maybe I'll have to look into that as well.
