Wheels for Auto X??

What are some good wheels for Auto X?? I'm thinking wider is better for the front..

Ideas?? Older 5 spoke Aluminum wheels?? My buddy actually fit 315's on TTII's up front! Don't ask how.. I don't know... THey don't rub at all.

The more tire you can fit, the better (given that it's a good tire).

The lighter the wheel, the better. Forged wheels are light, and strong too!

That's all that matters.

^ Hmm... So a wide drag wheel in the front may not be the best idea??

I think Weld Draglites are forged. Not sure. They're light weight, anyway. I don't know of any specific reason not to use Draglites on the front, but they may not be engineered to sustain high lateral loads. Give Weld a call and ask!

One other problem you might encounter with Welds is that they're not usually designed to accomodate a large brake rotor, and you'll want good brakes for autocross.

^ I'd LOVE to have a better brake setup for this car!! These work fine, but not as well as I'd like. I think they're too rear biased. I've heard of spacing for the FT's.. I'd have to crunch some #'s to find a FT wheel set up that would work to fit 315's up FT. I'll have to ask my buddy what he's got.

Stock 17's would be great for autoX and can bought pretty inexpensively. I regularly see a set of 4 going for $200 or less. If you want a tire that can be driven on the street too, check out the Falken RT-615 (what I've been running for a year) or the Kumho MX.

I'd go for a softer compound over a wider tire.

Whatever you can afford. Bigger (wider) is better. Lighter is better.

Yes, but you want to run the same size wheel all the way around.

17x11s actually fit better on the front than they do the rear. The most you'll need on the front is a wheel spacer. In the back you'll still need a spacer but you'll also have to roll the fender lips.

^ I would rather run the same all the way around. I have 27's in the front now and 285's in the back.

My buddy swapped his tires for 555 315's on all 4 and he actually lost some responsiveness in the front due to them being a 'wrinkle wall' type, softer sidewall drag tire.

I'd like 17" x 11" all around if I can get them cheap enough and light enough. Aluminum TTII's would be nice because I KNOW they will fit, but they are too common. Which is why I got the rebels, but even those are a bit on the heavy side and not wide enough in the front for me.

Do they make a ZO6 replica in 11" That would fit the front??

You could always get a full set of 10.5" Z06 rims (I've got the true C5 Z06 setup on my car, but just for fun, I bolted the rears on the front to see if they'd fit, and they do no problem ..... 18x10.5).

Also, if your buddy is running Nitto 555R, they're a drag radial. Nitto also makes the 555R2, which is exactly the same, except with STIFF SIDEWALLS, specifically made for road-race / auto-x . Run those all the way around the car if you want, and you can street drive it all day long, and also run on the track . They'll wear about ~twice as fast as a regular street tire though, but last longer than many of the other popular R-compounds available.

Bogart RR RT wheels are just what you want. They look awesome and are a forged wheel. Check em out http://www.bogartracingwheels.com/rt-road-race.gif. I think you will like them.
