Wheel clearcoat?
Wheel clearcoat?
i just recieved my second set of weld rims today and was curious if there is a clear coat finish that can be applied to them to prevent oxidation, my old set has a haze to them even after polishing them. I believe that I have seen a clear coat like product on the internetfor wheels but have never heard of anyone that has used such a thing.
I would talk to your local bodyshop and see what they have to say, cause i have a 75 camaro with welds and im thinkin about havin the shop spray them. The only thing i was worried about is the yellowish tint of some clearcoats, but they said that theirs would not yellow the wheel and it would keep it in great shape.
There are clearcoats specifially made for wheels. The Eastwood Company carries them. There is also stuff like "Zoop Seal" that is supposed to prevent them from oxidizing for up to two years. Expensive, though. I just polish my Welds with Mother's Billet polish, and they still have a mirror finish at 8 years old. But my wheels seldom get wet.
