What size tires on stock rear?

on a stock rear end, what is the biggest tire I can get on there? I want to go with something like 315/30 in the back but dont know if thats too big.

I am also planning on getting Z06 rims. From what I have seen, they are 18" in the back and 17" in the front. Whats the biggest size tire that will fit on the Z06 wheels?

Dont know too much about tires except for what the numbers on the side mean so bare with me...thanks all!

Some people have been able to fit a 335 series tire on our cars. So, you could try that if you're daring enough. On the 18x10.5" wheel you could fit a 295 series tire without a problem.

after reading around for a while, it seems that anything above 18x10 wont fit so the Z06 17/18 combo wont work because the rears are 18X10.5. So I dont know what rims I want to go with but something different and bigger, and beefier tires. The 245/50 were ok at first but now, I want something a little different.

can anyone fill me in on basic tire rim sizes? I want to know what size rim I need for somewhere in the 305/30 area.

The Z06 18x10.5 will "fit", but it requires a spacer to keep it away from the inner fender liner. A spacer may require longer studs, so you can see things starting to snowball, but there are people here running 18x10.5 Z06's. And I would be hesitant to do any serious drag racing with spacers on the rear wheels.

A 295/35-18 will fit on that wheel. You might get away with a 305/30-18, but I don't think you will find that size in anything other than a "racing" tire from Hoosier or Kumho.... very thin tread, very soft compound, dry traction tires that can't really be used on the street.

is it true with the 220 series z06 rims you wont run into rubbing issues as opposed to the 226 series you do?

With Z28's it's usually hit or miss. They don't come with as wide as wheel wells as an SS or TA. The biggest that I know for a fact that you can fit would be a 285. 315 would really be pushing it.

yeah now that I think more and more about it 315 is pretty large. I will go with 305 or lower, probably 285 tho

ive seen 315's fit on a z28 without any probs.. then again ive seen some that need working, and some that dont... i dunno about the z06's but the zr1's have dif off sets avail, i think the main dif being one sticks out from the fender more, and the other keeps the rim tucked in?.. i have 315's on my TA and they stick out..looks bangin
