Weight on wheels

I was wondering what is a good average weight for 17" wheels for an LS1. I am in the market for new wheels and didin't want to get ones that are too heavy. Wheels I am looking at are 23lbs per wheel. Is that light or heavy

Re: Weight on wheels

Genuine GM ZR1 style silver wheels in the 17x9 are 19.5 lbs/each. These used to be some of the lightest you could get in the 17s. Its been quite a few years since I weighed wheels, though. There might be lighter ones by now.

Re: Weight on wheels

a 17x8 centerline forged series wheel is cast and weighs 18lbs. my factory z28 wheel weighs 26lbs, my 18 boze stinger weighed 29lbs and my 19" boze stinger weighs 31lbs.

these are of course without tires. the extra 20lbs of rotational mass really slows the car down between the 16's and the 19's. this is why it's important to be honest with what you want. cruising and street driving a heavy rim isn't too bad, 25lb area is pretty good.
