Weight of 17X11s
Weight of 17X11s
Does anyone know the weight of a 315 tire on a 17X11 50 mm offset replica ZR1 wheel and the weight of the original SLP 17X9 ZR1s with 275s?
Does upgrading to larger tires with aftermarket wheels bring extra weight?

That won't give you an exact answer on the weight issue, but it will give you a good idea...

Re: Weight of 17X11s
Buying cheap wheels will almost certainly cause an increase in weight when switching to larger wheels tires.
What I do it worked out being a liveable compromise. I autox the car, and needed the extra grip and 'COULD' live with the acceleration hit, that heavier wheels are going to give you.
A drag racer type would almost certainly be faster on a smaller lighter but stickier tire.
I don't know about the new AFS wheels. But I had some that were the older USA made 2,200lb load rating 17x11's, and they were not that heavy. 23.4lbs. On a FedEx scale.
The ZR1 replica's from T Byrne, shipped directly from Discount Tire, were 27lbs!!!! and only rated to 1,400lbs.
I would call 5.2lbs a pretty big increase in rotating, and un-sprung weight. As comparison, when I swapped the Discount Tire wheels (17x11) to CCW 17x12's I lost 12lbs of rotating and un-sprung weight.
The Fikse's I had were also about 2lbs lighter than the CCW's so the difference between the best and junk can be as high as 8lbs per wheel.
