want new wheels

i own a 96 z28 and i was wondering what is the biggest wheels and tires that i can run in the back, and the front, with out rubbing the sizes not need to be the same up front and on the rear i just dont want to have to make any major modifications to the car. I sure this has been asked before but i couldn't find the thread.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: want new wheels

One setup that works, assuming by "biggest" you meant "widest" :

Front: 17x9.5" 45 to 56mm offset, 275/40-17
Rear: 17x11" 45 to 50mm offset, 315/35-17

The rears MAY require a bit of hammering the inner fender liners, cutting the corner of the jounce bumper bracket, recentering the body over the axle with an adjustable panhard rod, or rolling the inner edge of the fender lip up. VARIES quite a bit from car to car.

We either need to get the FAQ sticky up to date, or we need to improve the "search' feature, because I'm sure I've typed that same answer at least 10 times.
