Need help with shipping, experience needed

I am going to send some 17" Rims with 225/45/17 tires somewhere via UPS. Can anyone tell me how much this is going cost, a ballpark to say the least. I went to their website but did not have dimensions for the box I am going to send it in. Any experience is welcome, i.e. what kind of packaging to use, precautions, anything of use. Thanks

When I sold my N20 bottle off of ebay I called UPS to get an estimate. They are open 24hrs. They'll ask you the demensions, weight and where it needs to go from what location. Also, my ups store sold me a box and popcorn to fill it.
but it mostly depends on three things, wieght, size and destination. I suggest you call

I'm currently selling a set of AR Ventura's in 16X8 on eBay, and when I took them to a shipping outlet, they told me they'd be around $27 per wheel to ship to the Florida from here (Fargo). This may or may not help you, but I figure Fargo, ND to Florida is half-way across the country at least. Couldn't tell you what it would be from coast-to-coast (but I'd imagine about twice that).

It depends on the wheel, and packaging. You're going to have to pack each wheel separately, because anything over 70 lbs is considered OS3 and thus charged an overweight fee. The dimensions of each box combined (H+W+D) should not exceed 65", or you'll get overcharged yet again.

When I worked in the shipping dept. at a wheel company, we shipped out polished one-piece and three-piece wheels, and depending on the wheel, you want packing foam and a cardboard circle on the front + cardboard circle on the rear (for wheels with polished lips) or just cardboard circles for each side (wheels without "sensitive" lips). Of course, all this goes in a box.

If you can, find someone who has a UPS account, because people with daily pick-ups get better rates than if you were to just go to the UPS store.

Hope this helps

When I shipped a set of wheels and tires a while back, I just put cardboard circles on the front and back, wrapped tape around the whole tire and put a label on it. I did each one separate to stay under the oversize limit. The ones I shipped were 16inch with 225/50's and they weighed about 40lbs each. It cost me $24 each to ship from IL to AZ.

Thanks a lot guys, I'm getting a lot of offers and I need to sell fast. That is a really great idea about using cardboard circles, I appreciate that very much, I was not looking forward to boxing them up. That method shall prove useful.

Next question. I'm not going through Ebay, so what is the safest and quickest way to get money from somebody who is buying the wheels? Methods you might have used? Thanks again
