Tires that hold well on dry and wet roads.
Tires that hold well on dry and wet roads.
Because I decided to go up in wheel size (17x9.5 c6 z06) the original tires that I had planned on going with when I upgrade my wheels and tires are too small. So now it's back to the drawing board.
I live in texas so as far as snow and ice goes, it is not a major worry. Although ice has occurred the past 2 years, I NEVER take my camaro out into the snow, so I don't need tires that handle in the snow. What I do need however are tires that can handle wet conditions very well. It will tend to start raining out of no where and I would like tires that grip very well in the rain. The current tires I have (Falken Zier something or others) tend to lose grip occasionally when raining, especially when coming from an uphill start.
Not looking at getting summer tires, I would prefer all season tires and I use it as my almost daily driver(only time I don't is for work). Any recommendations would be helpful.

Re: Tires that hold well on dry and wet roads.
Go to Tire Rack, search by size, and then to the "comparison" of the available tires. The comparison includes user feedback ratings on performance, including wet and dry traction, cornering and braking, noise, tread life, ride comfort, etc. Pick the features that are important to you, and see which tire has the best combo of those features. You will be looking at a 275/40-17, and there are some excellent "summer performance" tires that are good for both wet and dry conditions.
Not sure why you would be interested in an "all season" tire when you do not plan to drive in snow.

Re: Tires that hold well on dry and wet roads.
I've found the BFG KDW IIs I have work well on Dry surfaces and OK in the rain.
In the wet you can spin them with ease if you hammer them, but if you drive normally they are fine in the rain. They hold the road well in wet weather, and I've felt no Hydroplaning during the few times I was caught in storms on the highway.
I would say they are an excellent Dry tire with Rain capability, which sounds like exactly what you are shooting for

Continental DWS. They are all seasons and come in a 275/40/17 for your wheel size. They hold very very well in the wet, and have pretty good dry grip too. If you are not tracking the car you dont need any more dry grip. They have a nice ride, and are not overpriced either.
