Re: Tire size question

245 or 255 is the biggest I'd go on a 8 inch rim but I've seen mustangs runnin 275's on that size it buldged out alot though probably not very safe.

Re: Tire size question

A quick check on Tire Rack indicates that most manufacturers - or at least the 10 tires I looked at - recommend a rim at least 9" wide for a 265/40-17. That size will also be slightly (1/4") under the stock tire diameter. Most manufacturers will accept a 255/45-17 on an 8" wheel.

That's why most people go to 9.0" or 9.5" when they move up to 17" wheels.

Re: Tire size question

The reason i got 17 x 8 is because i got them for 400 bucks and they were a deal no curb rash and brand new. Could i put a 265 on the rear and be okay or is a 255 as big as i should go. what brand of tire should i use. i do alot of daily driving and street racing so let me know.
