spacers or not?

Im thinking of getting .5" spacers on the back, but they will add up to $90(maybe shipping too), but some people have just hammered it, would i be better off that way, or would I not have to do any work if i got .5" spacers? and can someone give me a link to that site on where to hit for the rear wheel well so it will fit? this is for 18 x 10.5" z06 rims with 58mm backspacing, and im putting on 305/35/18 tires on them, and is there still rub if i pick the spacers or the hammer route?
thanks

p.s. when you hit your rear wheel wells, does your paint come off? cause when i tried like 1 or 2 hits, it did

Re: spacers or not?

yes the undercoat will probably crack off when you get done just pick up some undercoating from like napa or somewhere and spray it on to seal it. I am planning on putting those tires on the same wheels and was curious about fit as well. I heard that spacers can cause you wheels to work loose and i dont want to risk that. Are any of you using wheel spacers?

Re: spacers or not?

im no tire/rim guy but with spacers i would think it might rub on the outter fender wells..i know my tires "hit" the outter fender wells when i hit big potholes an whatnot and im still running 15in rims

i duno the tire size tho(could run outside and check if needed)

nevermind just checked im running 275/60/15s in the rear..

Re: spacers or not?

Re: spacers or not?

thanks guys, when i put these 305/35/18's in the back will my speedometer be a little off? and does anyone have a link to that site where it shows exactly where to hit on the rear wheel well? and do i even need an aftermarket panhard bar as someone told me when i do this?
thanks

EDIT: what kind of place would i have to go to, in order to fit these tires on the rims, since there kind of big (place in MA would help)?
