Proper "baseball bat" rolling technique

Seems that nobody around me can roll my fender lips. My 17x11 ZR1s along with my 315/35/17 GS-D3s (which I hear are really wide for a 315) are in the mail and should be here soon and since I am lowered on a pro-kit, I can just about guarantee that I probably will need to roll my lips.

I tried doing a search on the proper technique for using a baseball bat to roll the lips, but I really can't get a good idea on how it should be done. Most people said that a heat gun can limit the paint cracking, but would a hair dryer work just as well or is it not hot enough? I suppose I could go by the hardware store and buy a heat gun, but if a hairdryer would work, that would be cool
