Re: Please help me pick new tires.

245/45R-17 95H BSW

245 = section width (width of the tire at the widest point) in millimeters = 9.65" wide

45 = the aspect ratio (ratio of sidewall height to section width), also known as "profile". That tire will have a sidewall height of 0.45 x 245mm = 110mm = 4.34"

R = Radial tire

17 = The diameter in inches of the wheel it must be mounted on.

95 = The "load" rating of the tire. "95" means each tire can support 1,521# at maximum inflation pressure

H = The maximum allowable continuous speed rating. "H" means the tire should not be run above 130MPH for a sustained period of time.

BSW = black side wall tire.

Here's a link to a Tire Rack tech writeup on tires:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=46

What year is your car? Does it have 17" wheels? How wide are the wheels? What size wheels and tires did it have on it when it left the factory?

You need all that info to select the correct tire. You should try to match the tire's outside diameter to the diameter of the stock tires that came on your car. You should select the section width based on the width of your wheels.

Both have a high treadware rating with a low speed rating. They'll be ok for daily use but don't expect them to hook well. You'll be limiting your car unless it's a V6.

Re: Please help me pick new tires.

Most people will choose a 17x9.5" wide wheel, and put a 275/40-17 on it. Lots of rubber on the road, and no problems with rubbing (as long as the wheels have the correct offset) since they were the stock tire size on the SS and WS6 coupes.

I'm assuming you have a 4th Gen??????

Might be a good idea to add a "signature" with basic info like the year of your car, model, engine, any major mods. That way people can give you more accurate answers to your questions.

Re: Please help me pick new tires.

I had 245/50/16 Kuhmo Ecsta Supra's (not impressed) on my stock rims and when i upgraded to the 17" rims i put 275/40/17 Fuzion ZR1's and they are awesome. They have a higher treadwear and stick really well for the price. It will be a little cheaper to put 245 width tires on your 17's than 275 but wide tires look pretty awesome on the fbods.

What width of wheel are you getting? This will effect which tire size you should get.

Re: Please help me pick new tires.

Remember, this is on a 6 cyl. More wheel/tire will take more power to turn.

A 17x10 won't really make a 275 tire look any different than on a 17x9 wheel. Except flex the sidewall out further. The only diff would be that depending on the wheel there may be a deeper lip, but thats in reference to the wheel not the tire.
