Offset question
Offset question
What offset can i get away with? I have a 95 z28..the stock offset is +55...canb i get away with a 38 or 40mm?..
The smaller the number , the closer to my fenders correct??
any input is greatly appreciated thanks.. It just seems no one makes a rim close to what we need and thats why every runs a corvette rim??

Re: Offset question
You can't determine the correct offset, without knowing the width of the wheel. BOTH the width and the offset deremine how the wheel fits into the wheel well. On a 4th Gen, for an 8" wide wheel, anything from 30mm-60mm could work, depending whether you want the outside edge of the tire near the outer edge of the fender (30mm) or deep inside the wheel well (60mm). For an 11" wide wheel, you are locked into the narrow range of 45mm-50mm.
Yes, small offset moves the wheel toward the outside of the fender, large offset moves it deeper into the wheel well.... but width must be taken into consideration.
Most factory Corvette wheels have too much offset for a 4th Gen F-Body. They are popular because they have the same bolt circle and there are cheap repro wheels available. Many of the repro wheels are made in the F-Body offset, or you will find an oddball Corvette wheel, like the 1996 Grand Sport wheel, that has the correct offset for the F-Body. The C6 19x10" wheels have 79mm offset.... no way to bolt those on a 4th Gen F-Body without spacers.
