New Wheels.......question pls help!!! thx
New Wheels.......question pls help!!! thx
ok i bought the AR Torque Thrust II's (17x9.5 & 17x11)
now i know there are few things i will have to do (i.e.--cut the jounce bumper bracket and MAYBE beat the fender in a tiny bit for them not to rub....)
HOWEVER, my other question is will i have to ROLL my fenders for them to fit when i hit bumps and the car squats down????
this is a BIG and VERY IMPORTANT thing i am concerned with......if i could have some help from anyone with the experience of 17x11's or who knows what for me to expect.
I will be running a 315x35x17 on the back
(i am not concerned with the front, running 275x40x17, because you all said that it wouldnt rub even under HARD cornering.......I LOVE to AUTOX)
thanks for the help guys,
Scott

I'm pretty sure the TT II's have a 7.75" backspace, which puts them a little closer to the outer edge/lip of the fender, compared to the popular 17x11 50mm offset (7.93" BS) ZR1/GS replicas. That means you will have less problems on the inner edge of the wheel/tire.... maybe it will clear the jounce bumper bracket, maybe it will take minimal hammering of the inner fender.
However, since you are closer to the fender lip, you may find you need to "roll" the lip up, to avoid is scraping on the sidewall of the tire. You will know pretty quickly if you have the problem, because you will see the scuff marks on the sidewall. As a precaution, you might want to push the fender lip up a little, so the sharp edge isn't pointed directly at the edge of the tire when the body rolls or squats.
