New wheels. Question?

I just bought these wheels and tires (Hankook Ventus HRII H405, 275/40R-17)
I love the way they look, but my Camaro does not feel right anymore. I cannot let go of the steeling wheel or the car will pull, sometimes right, sometimes left, sometimes it rides straight. Never did this before the new wheels, I could go for miles in a straight line. What would cause this? I think maybe the wheels were not balanced correctly. Maybe I need a alignment, but it rode great before the new wheels. Not sure what to do.

some times wider wheels grab ruts in the road more then your stock width wheels will. that could be what your feeling.

You could always double check the easy stuff and make sure the tire pressures are good, lug nuts are torqued down, and the wheel weights are intact. As mentioned above though, wider tires are going to grip the pavement differently and have a different feel to them.

I agree. Try to notice it on the street next time. Then try to find a street of nice white cement--that usually doesn't rut as bad--and see if you notice a difference.

I think I found the problem, the rear passerger wheel is missing some weights. I have to get them balanced again.

i would think if it was a missing wheel weight the car would shake more then steer to the side... but i could be wrong. hopefully that fixes your problem.

I have the same problem, but I'm not complaining. I'm running a 245/45/17 in the front on a 9.5" wide rim witch is stock on the SS. It happens when you have a wide tire in the front that is catching all the grooves in the road. Don't know what you had on before but if your front rims were only 8" wide chances are you wouldn't have that problem.

Camaro is in getting an alignment now, also checking the wheel balance. Hope that fixes the problem. Thanks for the help, I'll let you all know if this works out or not.

Well it does run better now that I had an alignment and the wheels re-balanced. It still pulls some but not as bad.

As the others have suggested, it usually pulls with wider tires, you get eventually forget about it
