New tires

I've needed new tires on my car for the past, oh 3 years , but now that I'm graduating college I think its time for a new set as my car will be my main vehicle.
Whats a decent set of tires for a reasonable price? I dont drive my car insanely fast or street race with it. I drive it like a normal car with the exception of the occasional burn out.
Anybody recommend some decent tires? I'd love to get a set for $300 or less.

Re: New tires

Hard to help without knowing what size tires you are running... 94 Formulas came with both 235/55-16 and 245/50-16. Either way, go to Tire Rack, put in the size you need in the "tires by size" screen, and do a search. You will get a huge selection, probably ranging from $75 to close to $200 per tire. To meet your limit, you are going to be looking at a $60-65/ tire + mounting and balancing, to keep them under $300 for a set of 4, and that's not going to give you a very good choice of tires.

Re: New tires

Sorry, I was planning on going with 245/50-16.
I checked tirerack, and there were a few tires that fit the bugdget. But I dont know anything about tires as this is the first time I've ever bought them. Quite a few were similar in price, but I know not all tires are the same and some are just better tires for the same price.

Read the Review section for each tire. For a summer performance tire, the Sumitomo HRTZ, BF Goodrich g-Force Sport, and Bridgestone Fuzio ZRi's will fit your budget. I'm also looking at these three tires for myself.

Re: New tires

I definitely reccomend the Hankooks for just street tires. If you want, get the HR-II (cheaper) for the front and the other ones for the back. I'm not sure about for 16" rims, but for 17", the 245 and 255 are the same price. I wouldn't go any smaller than that though. Those are the cheapest ones, but I have those on the front and two of my friends have them on all 4, so I know. If you want to spend more, you can, but discounttiredirect.com also has free shipping and of course, no tax. It doesn't get much better. Good luck.
