Question 3.42 gear and tires?

Ok guys i need some tire help bad. I have a 3.42 gear in my z, and its needing new tires. I know there is a similar post on here from someone with a 4.10 gear, but i was just wondering whats best with mine? I want a tire that has a lot of bite to it, with just a little bit of slip. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Re: 3.42 gear and tires?

I would assume you are after as much dry traction as you can get. The tire choice isn't going to vary all that much with gear ratio. Yes, if you are running 4.10's maybe you just can't get enough from a "street tire", so you are forced to consider sticky drag radials. You get the increased traction, but are limited on wet traction and tread life.

But I think its a stretch to assume you can pick a specific tire based on the fact that a car has 3.42 gears. More important than that would be what kind of power/torque those tires are being asked to transmit to the pavement, and what kind of drivetrain (A4, M6, high stall converter, etc) is being used to carry that power to the back wheels.
