New rims wont fit!! Need help

I tried to put some C6 18x10.5's in the rear of my Camaro and I got them on and lowered the jack and saw that the car ddnt drop down as far as it should have. At first I thought it was the springs but we realised that it was to wide and the frame was sitting on the tire and thats why it wouldnt go all the way down.I have heard of people using 10.5" wide rims on Camaros so I figured they would fit. So my question is to the people who have 10.5" in the rear, did you have to do anything to get them to fit correctly? If so what do I need to do to get them to fit?

Any and all help is appreciated
Thanks

What is the offset of the 18x10.5" wide wheels? What tires do you have on them? Are they aftermarket repros, because I'm not aware of any C6's with 18x10.5" wheels?

The offset has to be 58mm or less (8.00" backspace) or they will rub on the inner fenders. Hard to understand how the subframe could come down on the wheels? Are you sure it isn't the jounce bumper bracket digging into the side of the tire?

(I'm going to guess from your screen name that you have a 98 Camaro - never hurts to add a "signature" with basic info like the year of your car, model, engine, tranny, major mods).

Dont remove the bump stops, just grind the sides of them off.

Ditto... Don't remove them. There's a photo in the FAQ showing what you have to do to grind the brackets down.
