Need opinion on wheel tire combos for my 383Z

I have a 94Z with a LT4 383 with all the supporting mods to include a built 4l60E with a 3k stall, ford 9 inch with 350 (for now) gears. Car spins the tires all day so it's xmas which means it's time to upgrade. I want something that will hook on the street and the track, the car will be driven a couple of thousand miles a year only in the best weather. Being i am going to buy tires and rims at the same time where should I go with sizes and brands. Most seem to be guiding me towards 16's and et streets? Power is worthless without traction. Any input would be appreciated. Front tire/rim as well as the rear. The car does have a total tubular setup and bags.

Why go with a 16'' rim when you can go with a 15'' and have more sidewall? If your only driving in good weather and don't put alot of miles on, get some MT street radials. I don't think it will be easy to find a better limited use street tire. I run them, and am very happy with the way they hook. (60ft. times in sig.) I'll leave the wheels up to someone else. I'm running Bogarts and the fronts are not recommened for street use.

I wouldn't run an ET Street on the street. I've had them in a 16" size, drove them from home to the track (7 miles) and they were clearly dangerous on the street. The ET Street Radial would be a better choice... and maybe that's what you meant to type. If you are doing that, get one of the 15" sizes. The Weld Pro-Stars and Draglites are legal for street use, except for the 3.5" and 4" wide "skinnies".

For the street, I run 17x11's with 315/35-17 BFG Drag Radials, and they provide decent traction. They were better before I went to the 4.10 gears. That's strictly running NA (~500 flywheel HP).... nothing will hook on the street with the 300-shot. If I was going to replace the street wheels/tires, I would look at a 15x10 Pro-Star with a an M/T ET Street Radial in either 275/50-15 (for a 26" tire) or a 275/60-15 to match the 28" diameter of my 28x10.5-15W ET Drags for the track.

I run 315/35R17 Nitto NT555R Extreme Drag Radials on 17x10.5 TTM's for daily duty and then 275/50R15 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials on 15x10 Prostars for serious work.

The Nittos hook fairly decently on the street with 403 RWHP and wear great.

yeah I meant the radial injuneer, i would really like to use some 17X9 zo6 rims as I like the look, am tettering on 17x11 ZR1's but don't want to have to beat and cut as it's a 63K mile 94 z that looks as it did new? I like the looks of the GM wheels so much i'm having a hard time going with other wheels like the 15's guys are using.
thanks for all the input, I at least know what might be the best way to go in a week when I spend

Same here, 275/50/15 on the 10" Bogarts. But the Nittos 245/50/16 on salad shooters just haven't found there way back onto the car.

Depends on rwhp and how serious you are. No sig?
