Camaro SS Tires

I have the stock 10 spoke 17 inch SS rims. Had 275/40/17's on it. Can I put 285"s on the back or will they be too wide for the rim? Looking at the eagle f1 gs-d3

Most tire manufacturers (including GY) recommend at least a 9.5" wide wheel for a 285/40-17, but a few accept a 9.0" wide wheel (as on your SS). Shouldn't have any problem running just about any brand of 285's though. Your speedo will read 1.2% lower than actual, but that's less than 1mph at 60mph, so don't worry about it.

with the taller tire like 275 to 285 is there much of a change in the final drive ratio? running 350's in a 9 inch. it would be like having 343? or?
