need help choosing tires
Re: need help choosing tires
I see that you're in California. What's the temperature range you'll need to deal with there? Do you ever want to drive on snow? Will it ever see temps below 40F?
If the answer to both of those are 'no, not ever', then get a nice set of summer tires. My personal favorite is the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, but those are pretty expensive.
If you answered yes to either of those questions, then you need to get an all-season tire (or get dedicated winter and summer tires -- that's what I'd recommend). I haven't found an all-season tire I'm really happy with yet, but my BFGoodrich g-force Super Sports are okay. I've had them two years now and there's still some usable tread. Grip isn't spectacular (compared to the summer-only Goodyear GS-D3s I had before), but they let go more progressively and predictably and they last a heck of a lot longer.
