MY CAR AND THE LOOK OF 335's
Re: MY CAR AND THE LOOK OF 335's
Allright Zack I did ask for opinions, not judgement. All I wanted to know is if people thought it looked good or not. Not if it is worth doing or not. And I esspecially don't care about some guy with a 4th gen saying that his stuff looks great.
That is not why i started this thread. And I have other people talking about compound and suspention now. Again way off topic. I DID say that I would like to toss some 315's on there, but that i dont have the money now. I even got people saying that i should have bought nicer rims, I mean WTF are you people talking about, The question is about the tire bulge and what you think about it, thats it.
Zack I did not mean to snap out at anybody I was just getting annoyed that people were straying so far off the point of the thread.
I really would appresciate some educated imput.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can do this

Re: MY CAR AND THE LOOK OF 335's
I think what people are saying is that wider is not always better. I know from personal experience with my car that my 275 40 17 BFG DRs on a 17x9 ZR1 wheel hooked better and went quicker than a set of 315 BFG DRs with custom 17x11 Centerlines, and I'm running 11.70s at 118 N/A. You add considerable weight going with big tires and wheels. inho watching your weight can be very substantial for durability of parts, too..
One other thing to consider is that if the wheel/tire combo hangs out of the quarter panel you throw all kinds of junk up onto your car...Been there, done that, too....

Re: MY CAR AND THE LOOK OF 335's
Allright I see what you mean. Thanks for the advice man.
Honestly. Maybe after I finish the car and am able to start doing things like tunning in terms of dif rims and tires I will take what you said into considerration. I plan on just driving it around town and a bit at the strip only a couple times for the first couple years, after that, I think the car will start to become more hardcore and I will def choose slimmer tires.
Again thx for the insite
Oh by the way Zack, thats the kind of help I was looking for, Not random input about nothing relevant.

Re: MY CAR AND THE LOOK OF 335's
In one picture it did not look like there are brake rotors on the car. The tires will stick out an additional 1/4 inch when you put them on.
With a little effort you may be able to find wheels with the proper offset. Or, have the housing ends cut off remove the desired amount of material from the axle tube and have the ends welded back on. Of course new axles will be required. Or have a custom 9" welded up for the car.

Re: MY CAR AND THE LOOK OF 335's
loose the attitude, you don't have to like what anyone says but your not going to get helpful suggestions when you come off badly. you want help then learn to accept critisism when you do something that doesn't look the best.
7" of backspacing is the most you'll get out of a thirdgen without physically cutting up the wheel well and even then you'll have to hammer alot in to make it work. with this in mind on theory a 295 is perfect for the stock wheel well of a thirdgen and a 315 is pushing it. sure you can do a 335 and be one of the few but it will be for good reason and unless your racing to compete the chances of you gaining much more then a rough ride is slim.
if you want to make it fit nice then you need to weigh your options. you need to see what your current backspacing is on your rims. calculate how much of an adapter you'll need to bring things in right and go from there. it might be cheaper in the end to buy a new set of wheels as adapters aren't cheap and rims are not as expensive as you may think.
in essence your problem really isn't a problem, somthing that could be fixed relatively easy but when you can bolt a wheel on a sportscar and then sit atop the tire that's definately not cool in anyones eyes. for your situation and build you'd be better off with a set of 16x8 rims with a nice sticky dr, but to each their own as it's all a suggestion..

I don't know what you are talking about attitide.
I was making a point that this discution is about third gens and that there is no need and in fact a waste of time for people to come into this thread and start posting stuff about a fourth gen TA. All I wanted to know is if people thought it looked cool. I def am not gonna change it deppending what people here say. I was just curiouse. Hope that clears up the attitude thing. I am far from a person with a bad attitude. I can take crittisism very well, but only when it is given. I will get annoyed when people don't follow what the post is about
With that point said. I appeciate the help. I DO know that I could get other rims and dif spacers. I know all my options. I looked into it a lot. The thing, is that I am building this car AS CHEAP AS POSSIBLE. Those rims were 375 bucks, new. The tires were 220 used but def with usable tread. And finally the spacers are 65. In total this set up was under a grand. I think that ain't bad.
Chances are I am going to switch to 315's and a stickier tire. But till then obviously this will have to do.

smiley. I personally can't stand that one. For some people (including myself) it strikes very wrong and hits a nerve. Might not want to use that one so often
Ok, we can get the thread back on track now!
Re: MY CAR AND THE LOOK OF 335's
haha, my fault. I know that those smileys do get annoying. I also have come to hate that smiley. I am def not going to use it anymore.
.
For anybody that likes to check updats on cars in progress... I am updating my site tonight with pics of stuff I did today. I had to re-take out the entire interior again to be able to start the final wiring. I also made a switch panel that will be mounted in the roof panel. It will hold the switches for the second fan, the cut outs and the fog lights. I hope this works
