Media blasting rims?

I have the stock rims on my TA and they look aweful. The OEM paint and clear coat is chipping away and the rims are discolored. I have been thinking of painting the rims because I can't afford much. I have a glass sander at work and I was thinking about useing it on my wheels. What do you all think? I figure that the glass will clean off all the crap (because I have used it on other stuff lol) and it will scuff the surface enough to paint it. Will I be ok to blast them and then prime and paint them?

Well I can't speak about the factory rims, as the ones I did were aftermarket. But using glass beads, it just depends on how much you want to take off. You can play with the pressure and how high you have the bead setting to. Works well though, if you're going to paint the rims, read the FAQ up top, and remember to scuff up the surface.
