Anybody have suggestions for hardcore brake dust removal on rims?
My now 22-year old '79 Camaro Z28 Aluminum rims have 22 years of brakedust caked up on them, and I've tried every cleaner i can get my hands on, but to no evail. There any hardcore blasting or something I can do to clean then up to like new?
Sorry,
. Forgot to turn my Signature on in that last post. When I figure out the delete/modify commands on this board I'll fix it, but till then, forgive the spam!

1979 Camaro Z28
- 84,000 Original Miles
- Original Motor, 350
- 185 HP (Ugh.) Soon to be changed.
- Mint Condition, all original black leather interior. Only thing not original, is the CD Player and Speakers.
- Um, Orginal Z28 Aluminum Rims, Space Saver Tire, and CO2 Bottle-filler-up-thingie
- P.O.S. Currently Rebuilding though.
- Working on souping engine up to 350+ HP, then will probably sell it and end up working on the Z.
I use Meguier's Hot Rims. Comes in a pink/purple spray bottle and took off brake dust that I couldnt get off with anything else. It was on there a while too...
You just spray the solution on dry wheels, let them sit for 2 minutes, and rinse them off.... most of the dust will come off, the rest will be loosened up enough to come off with soap and water...

I second Meguires Hot Rims. I just tried it for the first time last weekend and it worked great. Didn't need to scrub at all!
