how much faster can wheels make me?
well im curretly running a high 11 on my cam only lt1 and am looking to go faster by dropping weight.
right now im running on 97-99 chrome z28 rims with a bfg 255 dr out back.i know these are very heavy wheels. my question is how much faster do you think i could expect by switching to a drag wheel tire combo ( ie. pro star or something similar). id like to run a 3.5 inch wheel up front with a 10" out back with maybe 275 drag radials. is it worth the money to get the wheels or should i use the money elsewhere to drop weight.
any input would be cool guys,
btw mods if this is in the wrong thread sorry, i wasent sure where to put it.

Wheels and tires are rotating mass, so the weight savings multiplies by a factor of three (I think that is correct).
My factory wheels and tire were almost 50 pounds each. With the skinny fronts you can save about 30 pounds per wheel/tire (60 total front x 3 = 180) and on the rears about 15 pounds per wheel/tire (30 total rear x 3 = 90).
So, you’re looking at about 270 pounds theoretical rotating mass reduction in weight and that “could be” over two tenths (maybe 0.27) quicker ET.

Look at the 5th post in the Wheels and Tires FAQ, stickied at the top of the Wheels and Tires forum topic page, for weights of various wheel/tire combos. Stock 16x8 wheel/tire combos seem to range from 45-50#.
