How to identify 1997 Camaro SS wheels with SLP option
How to identify 1997 Camaro SS wheels with SLP option
I will be looking at a set of 17x9 5 spoke wheels that are supposed to be what are installed on 17x9 SLP equipped coupes. What markings/stampings, etc should I be able to see on both sides of the wheel? Wheels are silver with a small section of the outer lip in a machined finish. There is a very small gm cast on the silver part of outer rim and 17x9 and 50mm cast on the inside of one spoke. To me they are legit but I'm not an expert on 4th gens. The center caps need to be refinished and appear to what is left of a red bowtie on them, again is this correct for a 1997 SS SLP car. Thanks in advance.

This would appear to confirm the bowtie center caps.
Camaro and Z28 Wheels
You first sentence reference to 17x9.5 wheels is confusing.

No problem. Hope your eye surgery recovery turns around and moves in the right direction. I am amazed how much lighter the genuine forged wheels are compared to the aftermarket wheels currently on the car, even though they look identical. Forged vs cast, forged always lighter as well as stronger. Going to miss the polished look of current wheels on car though, really work with the black exterior. Hope to complete refinishing wheels in the next couple of weeks.
