Help me pick some tires

I'm getting 17x9.5's on all 4 corners so I'm gonna use 245/45/17 tires for them. Whats a decent street tire I should get? Shoot me some recommendations. I don't want DR's because I'll get some and put them on my stock wheels for the track. Thinking maybe BFGoodrich G-force?

Most tire company's don't recommend anything wider than a 9" wide wheel
for a 245/45/17s, there's a few that do like Pirelli, Sumitomo, but that's on only certain models.
Why no go with a tire that's designed for a 9.5" wheel, like a 274/40/17?

245's on a 9.5 wheel would look funny. Go with at least a 265 or a 275 series tire.

I am going to put Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tires on mine. They rate very well with many people on the corvette forum and offer excellent wet traction.

have to agree, rethink your tire measurements there.

Ouch I knew it was 275's I had in mind not 245's. Those are for like 8" wide. 275/45/17 is what I meant!

on the money.

this is true for all widths and profiles for the most part to be right on.

8" wide 245
8.5" wide 255
9" wide 265
9.5" wide 275
10" wide 285
10.5 wide 295
11" wide 305
11.5" 315

hopefully you get the idea.

16" tall 50 profile
17" tall 45 profile
18" tall 40 profile
19" tall 35 profile
20" tall 30 profile

this is only true for certain widths. for example i run a 285/30/19 on a 10" rim but a 245/35/19 for 8".

good luck.

with your size rims i would run a 275/40/17 or a 285/40/17 tire. You dont want to run anything thinner than a 275 because it may not properly cover the rim. This will depend on the tire but it could happen.

Even if you are going for something cheap, the 275/40/17 size has tons of options. You will be able to find something to fit your budget.

Goto tirerack.com, they rate and review each tire they have and are a discount warehouse. Pretty goood place to start.

shop your local places after you research the net just in case. tirerack isn't the discount it use to be especially on "custom" tires.
