Grime stuck on wheels

Hello everyone,

My wheels are the stock ones - aluminium color, 5-spoke alloys wheels. The dirt and grease have got stuck on it and just wont go. I dont wanna scrape it off either as it would ruin the silver-metallic paint on it.
Anything you guys can suggest?

thanks

What exactly have you tried? Soap and water, wheel cleaner, etc?

Are you sure it isn't a case of the clearcoat coming off the machined parts, and the aluminum oxidizing?

I've used carnaoba car wash, ordinary soap & water, even carnaoba wax, nothing worked. No I'm pretty sure that the clearcoat hasn't come off, cos the carnaoba the wax still shines the rim as good as new, except some grease still remaining there.

The grime was stuck from the time I bought the car off my cousin. It seems the dirt has remained on the rims long enough to get stuck on it "permenantly"

Otherwise the rims have good clearcoat metallic paint on them. I can tell that over the last 2 years, at lease a bit of it has come off by repeated cleaning. But about 95 % of it stays there.

I use Eagle 1 Wheel Cleaner, although on other cars I have had good luck with Simple Green.

You may also try some tar and bug remover
