I thought so too! I'm just trying to wrap my head around all this offset/backset thing......They only give offset figures, and I've read that a 10inch wide wheel will fit my car with a 5.5" backset and 285/17's without spacers....I'm trying to figure out how/what offset I'd need. These come in 24mm offset or 44mm offset and a 10.5" wide wheel. This would be easier if they were 10" wide and listed the backset instead of "offset"....

"Backspace"

Take the width of the wheel. Add 1". Divide by 2. Add the offset, converted from mm to inches. That is the approximate backspace.

For a wheel that is nominally 10.5" wide:

10.5 + 1 = 11.5

11.5 / 2 = 5.75

Offset = 24mm / 25.4 = .94"

5.75 + .94 = 6.69" backspace

Offset = 44mm / 25.4 = 1.73"

5.75 + 1.73 = 7.48" backspace

Those are APPROXIMATE numbers. The unknown is the width of the two flanges that hold the tire bead on the rim. By adding 1" to the nominal width, the assumption is that the width of each of the flange is 1/2". It can vary with the design of the wheel. But 1/2" is a safe assumption.

If the backspace is too large (wheel would be too deep in the wheel well), you use an adapter to move the wheel outward.
