sorry for hijack but what difference is there between the Sumitomo HTR Z 315 vs the Nitto 315 width wise? One better then the other in this regard for a 9" ws6 rim.

Published section width for 315/35-17:

BFG DR (tire in photo): 12.4" (11.0 - 12.0" wheel)

Sumi HTR-Z: 12.6" (10.0 - 12.0" wheel)

Nitto 555R: 12.1" (10.5 - 12.0" wheel)

If you believe the published numbers, the Sumi would be a bigger problem than either of the other tires on a 9.0" wide wheel. You sort of have to give the engineers who designed the tires credit for knowing what size wheel its supposed to be mounted on.

i "had" 315's Nitto555R's on my zr1 17x9.5's Slight outer buldge on side wall. Tires were free so no biggie. Here's where I had a problem. No matter what air preasure I ran....I could not get the center tread to spread out. It always cupped inwards/upwards. Leaving heavy outer black marks and barely noticable center black marks. I had better traction running the 275 nitto 555R's. I purchased a set of 17x11's brand new for a great price of 110.00 each. Figure I can mount my extra set of nitto 275's on the 17x9.5's and keep em for track use. Now positive side of it all. I never had any ill handling problems or rubbing problems. Just less traction due to the cupping.

Um....several people said they did it with no issues...they even provided pics for verification...I'm also saying it's ok as I did it...pics are on website...THE ONLY 315 YOU CAN PUT ON A 9-9.5" RIM IS A NITTO DRAG RADIAL. IT'S A DAMN ODDBALL TIRE THAT'S SKINNIER THAN ADVERTIZED.

At the track, run them at 20psi and smoke them A LOT. goodluck

no issues if you remove the center area no being 100% in contact
*ignore the bald section; they were like that when they were donated to me*
