You can't go any more than 28.0" on the rear wheel wells, or you will have to cut the rear bumper cover. At 28.7", you might even need to do some sheet metal work to the front edge of the wheel opening. I ran 28.0" Hoosier QTP's and once the trap speeds went over 125mph the tire grew enough to start hitting the front edge of the fender opening. I moved the axle back 1/4" and that cured the problem. Just switched to ET Drag 28x10.5-15W's, and they must be well over 28" because I have cut almost 1.5" off the rear bumper cover.

What are you using the tires for.... street only, strip only, both??? I run 315/35-17 BFG drag radials on the street, and they provide decent traction for 500flywheelHP. Can't spray at all with them, though. At the track, the QTP's at 635HP and the ET Drags are for a 300-shot (800HP), but I don't have any passes on them yet. With the HP you are talking about, 26" ET Streets should do the trick at the track.

BFG now makes several 18" drag radials in theire "g-Force" line, you might want to look at those, because they are 26" diameter. Somehow, 18" drag radial sounds like an oxymoron....

Great info, Fred! I actually didn't know some of that (actually, I don't know a lot that you know. ).

I'll move this over to the wheels and tires forum...
