275 Nitto 555R on 8.5" wheel?
275 Nitto 555R on 8.5" wheel?
Anybody running 275 Nittos 555R tires on a 8.5" wheel? Nitto lists the approved rim width as being 9-11" for the 275/40/17. Will there be any issues running a wheel under the approved width? For those using the 275/40/17 555R on a 8.5", do you have any pics of the sidewall?
Thanks
Thanks

275mm = 10.82"
That's a 2.32" difference between the wheel and tire, so 1.16" on each side. A 275/40 has 4.3" of profile height, and if you do the trig, that comes out to 15 degrees overall sidewall angle. That doesn't account for the crown of the tire, so the actual angle would be more.
You're right to question it. I don't think I'd do it. I'm guessing you already have the wheels, right?

Here's a picture of when I was running the Nittos.

Here's a closer shot I just dug up.

That sidewall looks OK in the pics....and these wheels would be 1/2" wider than in the picture, NICE. It seems to be worn more in the middle of the tire, is that the normal wear to be expected with the Nittos?
Thanks for the pics!
