255 Recommendations.
255 Recommendations.
Hello Wheel & Tire people
I've got the stock 16s on my Z28 and eventually will go to 18x10 CCW 505As, BUT in the meantime I would like to get some new tires before a road trip in May from Nor Cal to Dallas Tx.
I've skimmed through the wheel & tire faq and would like some recommendations for tires in the 255 range. It's Northern California, so I don't need all weather tires, but I'd also like to get some life out of them as I daily drive the Z.
So my main draw is tread life, but I've got a brother in law that wants to race when I get down there, so I'd also like some pretty performing tires.
Any suggestions in the 255 range?

Although some people find fault with the user feedback data on Tire Rack, because its often from people who aren't too sharp, or have little experience with tire selection, its still a rough guide to things like dry traction and tread life, which appear to be your priorities.
If you put 255/50-16 in as the tire size, and go to the listing of tires, they will offer you the opportunity to click on a comparative table for a large number of tires, that shows the feedback ratings, from 0-10, for each characteristic like wet traction, dry traction, noise, ride quality, handling, tread life, etc. That will point you in the direction of what is the best combination of the factors you consider important. The list of tires available in that size also offers you the opportunity to sort by cost.
