245-40-18 pics

anyone running 245-40-18 on all 4 corners? getting some 18 X 9.5 chrome zo6 rims next week and thinking of same size tires on all 4 corners for rotating a few miles down the road. from what i've gathered 275-35-18 is more prefered but i'm wondering what the narrower tires would look like. thanks, keith

Im not sure how great they would look either. I do have the 275/35/18 on 18x9.5 all the way around on my car and I think they look pretty good.

Re: 245-40-18 pics

I have them - but they are on my 18x8" wheels...
Get something wider for a 9.5" wheel.
Kumho Ecsta MX's (what I have) I know come in 265/35 and 275/35...but I also think the 265/35 would be too little sidewall...and why not go wider anyhow with the 275 all the way around???

Re: 245-40-18 pics

Most manufacturers recommend a wheel width of 8.0-9.5" for a 245/40-18, so its "technically" acceptable. Whether it looks OK is another matter. A 245 has a section width of 9.7". A 9.5" wide wheel is almost 10.5" wide when you include the rim flanges. That means the tire is going to be narrower than the wheel, and as noted above, will look "stretched". It will also leave the edges of the wheel exposed to curb damage.

Re: 245-40-18 pics

thanks for the replys. was looking at the fuzion zri's in 245/40-18. they dont make a 275/35-18 in this tire. closest was a 265/35-18 so i know this would be too short. any other tire offer the rim protection that the zri has? trying to keep the new chrome rims purdy.

I know my Toyo T1-S's and Michellin pilot sports have the rim protector.

I thought it said in the description of the tire if it has that or not?

Re: 245-40-18 pics

I have 245-40-18 but mine are on an 8" wide rim.

The car handles a lot better than the standard salad shooters with 235-55-16

I am thinking of 275-40-18 when these wear out.

At the moment when I drag race I put a couple of the salad shooters with the 235-55-16's on and I have run all my fastest times with these on.

I think because they are slightly bigger circumference than the 245-40-18
and they then alter the gearing very slightly

Pics in my signiture there's one with salad shooters on the back and 18's on the front.
