1995 z28 with 1996 ss wheels

Hey guys, new to the Fourm, i just purchased a 1995 camaro z28 with 1996 camaro ss wheels with 275-40-17 all around. I was wondering if anyone has mounted 235-40-17's on the ss wheels before or if they know if it would work. I wanna keep the 275's in the rear but put 235's in the front for a better turning radius. An help is greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Craig

Re: 1995 z28 with 1996 ss wheels

A 235/40-17 (24.4" diameter) tire is too small a diameter for your car. Being at least 1.25" smaller than what probably came on the car originally, it would lower the front of the car by about 5/8" and open up the gap between the tire and the fender radius by about 5/8".

Stock tires on your 95 were either 235/55-16 (26.2" diameter) or 245/50-16 (25.7"). If you have 275/40-17 (25.7") on the 17x9.0" SS wheels now, they are the correct diameter. The correct size based on matching the diameter would be 245/45-17 (25.7").
