17x10.5 with 315s on a 99 Z, Need Mods?

I am at stock ride height, but i would like to lower it some later, maybe 1-1.5". Ive read with 11's some people need to do those mods to make it fit and not rub. I saw a post on LS1tech where someone said they were running 10.5's with 315s and did not have to do any mods and it didnt rub at all. I was wondering if this is true. I want the widest rear tires without having to hammer on my car, so would 10.5's and 315s work? If not, could i do 10.5's and 305s? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The only section widths available in 17" sizesd are 275, 285 and 315. No 305, unless you go into the specialty road race and auto-X tires, that are not meant for the street. Whether the combo you want will fit without mods depends on the offset of the 17x10.5" wheel. It will also be influenced by the actual tire you select, since not all 315 tires have the same actual section width.

What would be the best offset to have the best chance of not rubbing, 50?

50mm would give you a bit of clearance on both sides. Not too close to the inner fender, and not up against the fender lip.

I used a grinder and cut 1/2 the rubber bumper stop off but it was just to be safe since it was very close with the car jacked up. I noticed that if i raised the car one side at a time it was real bad but if i raised it from the center the clearance was a lot better. I get a slight rubbing if i take a turn real hard or accelerate and turn or hit a dip or bump. There is no signs of a problem but if i lowered my car it would be a lot worse. Maybe if i removed the 150 lbs of amp, box and subs it would not happen.

Thanks. Im thinking about 18's now. Are 305s fine on 18x10s or 10.5s? CALL911 apparently has them on his 18x10s. Look good to me. I would like 10.5 rear and 9.5 front (obviously not 305s in the front). If those work do you think it would be good with no modifications? Or should i go with 295s? I want to lower my car about 1-1.5" and it cant rub if i take hard turns. I will have good springs and shocks, fairly stiff, but the body will still roll/lean of course.

Basically i want the widest tires that wont rub with my car lowered 1", with no modifications. What do you all think? Sorry for all the questions but i dont buy anything unless i research it a lot and know what to expect. I appreciate any help. Thanks again.

If your going to do 18x10.5's in the rear, you can do 295/35r18 or 315/30r18's.

Will i have any problems with a 56mm offset and 315's compared to my 275's currently....

the 275's are stretched across the 10.5's and are bald now, looking to upgrade....

since i didnt have a adjustable PHB i had to cut the bump stops off and alot of metal aswell....

I have 10.5s in back on my 95 with an Eibach Pro Kit (about 1.25" lowered) and 315s. We trimmed the bumpstop bracket some, but that was it. The biggest issue for me is contact with the fender lip on a hard bump. I'm going to have to roll the fender lip or just cut part of it out.

Cool, I'll look for him. Clearwater, huh? I grew up in Ormond Beach. I don't know how you Florida guys afford the taxes and homeowners insurance anymore.
