I need a GOOD 4L60

looking for a Texas trans shop that can build a GOOD 4L60 with 4L65/4L80 parts that can handle some abuse (500 FWHP plus a 200 shot of NOS).

Who is good and can handle this?

Lloyd

www.centurytransmission.com

It's in Richmond, TX. Phone # is (866) 869-8120.

When my tranny finally goes I plan on having them do the work.

Re: I need a GOOD 4L60

either of you running one of these or know anyone that is?

I would just like to talk to someone that actually is using someones tranny and make sure they are having luck with it and it is lasting. Alot of people 'know" someone that can build one it seems but i have not found anyone that has oine first hand and I would hate to invest $$$ in one and THEN realize it will not hold up. No offense to anyone but I would love to hear from a customner running a trans and hopefully they can tell me they have ran one for a long time under similar conditions (HP level, NOS and slicks) that mine will see.

Anyone know any one near Dallas? If I can be assured of a good trans, I do not mind driving anywhere in Tx but maybe there is a local shop that can handle the chore.

Re: I need a GOOD 4L60

I know CJ Peddy used a Goebel 4l60 and was running high 9's low 10's at one time. Now he went to a TH400 but is running low 9's I think. I know a few others from the Dallas area are running Goebels 4L60's with no problems but there is always some that do have problems. My advise to you is dont waste your money on a 4L60. Why not go with a 6-speed or TH350/400?

Tony

I have been running Johns 4l60 for years. He is a good guy to work with, and his trans hits like a mother. I have been using my caer as a DD for 10 years and had his trans in for 6 It is as dependable as stock and hits like a mother every shift. I dont spray through the shift, but i think i could. You are welcome to come down and go for a ride to see for yourself. I'm about 1.5 hours south of Ennis.

Re: I need a GOOD 4L60

I have seen some 4L60's handle a mid 11 second car and last so I really do not wanna go TH 400 and lose my lock up and OD. I am only running 3.42 gears also and I really need the 4L60 1st gear ratio.

I am sure that the 4L60 can handle the N/A abuse but I would like to make sure the shp I chose has these transmiussions worked out like others do across the county. Shipping each way on a trans is like $200 so i would like to find a shop that is local (or atleast with in a few hr drive).

Had to learn that hard way!

Lloyed After installing your le1 (joe'o) and your heads my 4l60e couldnt handle it, Especially not on the bottle, they would last N/a for 3 months but 1trip to the track on the bottle and they were toast went thru 3 good builders in about 5 years here in the DFW area. Pm if you need any more info. never tried Goebal's 4l60e, have ath350 now. I would go m6 if i were u.

Re: I need a GOOD 4L60

I'm running one of Goebel's fully manual 700r4s. Last year it went 11.30 @ 122 on a 100 shot. This year with the new motor and spray I hope to see 10s.

Re: I need a GOOD 4L60

cool, I am still thinking about what to do.

I have another 3 weeks or so before I decide on what to do.

My father is having heart surgery June 14 so all of my free time goes to him. We have a gambling trip to Shreveport planned early next month also. It will be after his surgery before I have the $$$ and time for the trans.
