Where do those of you who's cars won't pass emissions get your car inspected in the Houston area?

The last time I had to "obtain" a sticker in Harris county it cost me 300 bucks and the guy said it was the last time he was doing me a favor. The time before that I drove to a podunk town and offered a couple 20s and some beer.

Good luck. They are cracking down hard down now, but realistically there is no reason for a performance car not to have the stuff. You can tune the car not to trigger an SES light if you don't have the equipment, but it doesn't really affect the power. It definitely makes life suck once a year, though.

My problem now is I have an OBDI conversion in the car.

If I were to put the OBDII computer and knock sensor back, could the computer be tuned to take everything out? EGR, air pump, etc...

as long as you still have the crank trigger installed and the right knock SENSOR you should be able to.. im not an expert so you might want to double check that. i did the obd1 conversion as well, luckly i live in no emissions county

Well, you're in a spot I was in with LT1 edit. I had a 96 with an ob1 pcm (I converted). I had LT1edit. Knowing that the VINs have to match (car and PCM), I tried having a friend put a tune on my stock OBDII PCM that turned the SES light off from the emissions codes. I tried to get an inspection, but it did not work and the computer failed me because even though I didn't have an SES light the codes were showing failure inside the pcm.

A friend of mine has a C5 with HPTuners and !emissions stuff. HPTuners gave him the options to either completely turn off the DTC, or just turn off the SES light. He turned everything off via HPTuners and was able to pass the inspection with flying colors.

So, you will have to find a way to turn the codes off completely of your OBDII PCM. I don't know if this is possible because I have not used LT1edit for OBDII cars. However, I will say that compared to LT1edit for OBDI PCMS, HPTuners is much more versatile and powerful, so you might be stuck like chuck .

Good luck.
Ryan
